Dr Emma Stewart

Emma holds a MA (Hons) degree and PhD in Geography, both from the University of Dundee. Emma's longstanding research interests are in the field of population studies, with a focus on refugee and migration flows. Adopting a mixed-methods approach, her ESRC funded projects have examined refugee mobility, evaluated UK dispersal policy, and explored refugee integration. She has worked collaboratively with refugee organisations to develop understandings of citizenship and Britishness. She also led a UK-wide study into the internal/onward migration of dispersed refugees to highlight the importance of place, sense of belonging, and identity.

Emma is currently a Research Associate at the University of Glasgow where she coordinates the Maternal and Child Health Network. As part of MatCHNet, she is interested in understanding how geographical differences in social, economic, and environmental policies impact upon child health and health inequalities.
